J. S. Paine and his company were located at 48 Canal and 141 Friend Street in Boston, Massachusetts. Apparently he not only manufactured furniture but acted as an agent in selling continental antiques from M. Guggenhein in Venice. This brochure touts only the "Guggenhein Collection of Antiquities . . ." (quote from page 4, not shown in the scans).
Interesting view of the antique trade in Boston in the 1880s.
I could not find any similar item listed on ebay as of 14 April 2021 - in either current or completed listings
(Starting 18 March 2020 - though I'm social distancing myself and have absolutely no symptoms - I will rub [until dry] a fresh dollop of hand sanitizer into my hands immediately before picking your items from my shelves and packing them - and again when I mail them).
shows some minor wear and modest soiling from age else VERY GOOD

WE REGRET WE DON'T SHIP OUT OF USA; SORRY, BUT
NO EXCEPTIONS.
FREE SHIPPING via stiff plastic postcard holder and/or cardboard + plastic sleeve protected 1st class mail, STANDARD RATE.
Regardless of what ebay may say on their "Shipping Page" - while STANDARD MAIL is perfectly safe for smaller & less expensive items - it is NOT the same grade of service as a "First Class Mail Parcel." Buyer MAY opt in (at a small-ish extra charge) for upgraded 1st class mail package rate (with TRACKING #) at checkout if they choose to do so.
I ship AT LEAST twice a week (and OCCASIONALLY 3 times per week) so turnover time or handling time is 3
business
days (Mon-Fri)
max
- often less than that.
Please pay within 4 days. Delayed? Then email me - I'll try to work with you when necessary but it helps a lot when I have contact with you. If your payment is delayed, ebay is liable to send a dun or two. PLEASE NOTE THAT THOSE ARE COMING AUTOMATICALLY FROM EBAY AND
NOT
FROM ME. I typically send out just one reminder.
PLACING A BID IS THE ETHICAL EQUIVALENT OF ACCEPTING THESE TERMS. PLEASE DON'T ASK TO ALTER THEM AFTERWARDS.
In return, as our feedback clearly shows, we'll get your item(s) to you, as described, in a safe, timely manner. Thanks!
