Description
Up for auction is a vintage issue of the November 1953 QST magazine.Of particular interest is the construction article for building a television camera for use on HAM TV. Historically, building one’s own TV camera in the 1950’s was quite a feat.
(Aside: I built a vidicon TV camera in 1964, which proved to be quite a feat for a high school student.)
The camera in this article features a two-inch 5527 iconoscope camera tube that utilizes electrostatic deflection and focus.
The camera head is built on a 7 x 13 x 2-inch chassis. The sync & blanking unit is built on a 13 x 17 x 3-inch chassis. The third unit, the power supply, is also built on a 13 x 17 x 3-inch cassis. Tubes used included 6AG5, 6SN7, 6AS7, 5U4, 1B3, etc.
Please check the table of contents for a list of other interesting articles and regular features, as well as looking at the vintage ads.
Overall, this magazine is in good condition with slight cover wear & page wrinkle. Also, a cutout coupon was done for requesting a Hallicrafters catalog.
Please check my other auctions for more QST magazines.
