Walking Out Costume

Description

This is the original outfit used in my book "The Doll's Clothes Collection"
published by David & Charles. Book available separately on eBay & Amazon.
The Jacket, Skirt, and Merry Widow Hat are made from cotton velvet and lined
in cotton lawn. The Jacket is waist-length with three-quarter sleeves. It is edged
in braid trim and fastens down the front with shank buttons and rouleau loops.
The Engageantes are set into the sleeves and are made from a broderie anglaise
eyelet edging through
which ribbon has been threaded and tied in a bow to create
a cuff. Under the Jacket is a self-lined silk shell. The Merry Widow Hat is interlined
with buckram to enable the brim to be
turned up. The crown is lined with satin and
topped with a
plumage
of raven black
feathers. The purse is lined and opens with
a snap fastener.
